Morning Sickness.... HELP!

So being pregnant is part of being a Homemaking Honeys isnt it? I am pregnant and experiencing the dreaded morning sickness (Lucky me). So On my personal blog I have asked for advise as to what has help each of my family memebers and dear friends with their morning sickness and as a result I am sitting here sipping on a peppermint tea, which is really yummy might I add. But it still isnt taking the sickness away. So I thought I would put the questions out to each of you, my blogging buddies. What has helped you with morning sickness? I find the only time I dont notice it is when I am asleep. I have it all day long and if one of the other 2 children wakes up in the night it takes me ages to fall back asleep because I feel so sick. I cant wait to hear your ideas.

By the way In the next few months I feel a lot of baby projects coming on. Once of course i get passed this stage!

All I can really say is good luck. I am 6 months prego with my second and mine lasts all day and all 9 months. Try to keep a little something in your tummy, try not to over eat....that just means more can come back up :) atleast for me if I get too hungry from not wanting to put anything in my mouth the nausea gets even worse. I eat a lot of cottage cheese, for the protein. That helps me. But I too am still trying to figure it all out. This one has been worse then the first. I feel your pain :) good luck. Oh ask your doctor about Vitamin B6 and unisom....it has been a life saver for me, esp at night!!!!!!

I'm sorry you feel so bad. My morning sickness was really bad too and it was all day and night. My second of the three pregnanacies was the worst. I couldn't even drink water without it coming violently back up. Nothing helped. On my third pregnancy I heard that ginger helped some people so I tried eating Gingersnaps, which kinda helped a few times, but wasn't a miralce help. Sorry I can't help, but I hope it goes away soon for you.

I know food is a touchy subject for morning sickness...and it really depends on how you react to it...but I found that eggs, toast and orange juice for breakfast made the best difference for me. THen I had to snack all day long on anything that sounded good (which is hard to find, I might add...). Naps helped me forget I was sick (though, hard to find when I already have 4 kids running around!). If I kept myself busy, then I would distract myself from the milder bouts of morning sickness...it was just the battle of having enough Umf to figure out what to do to keep myself busy when all I could think of was sitting around feeling yucky. (: Good luck! You've got lots of empathy out here in the blogging world for you!

I get so sick that I have always had to have medication in order to stay out of the hospital. However, I have been able to help some others with the morning sickness as long as it isn't a big medical problem. Sugared ginger works wonders for most women. The cookes don't have enough of the real thing to do much for you. If you get some of the sugared ginger and don't like the flavor, try something called "ginger chews". they look and taste like candy and most women like them. But they have a high ginger content and seem to really work. Also, you need to be very consistent with eating every two hours. Your small meal needs to include a protein, carb and fat. (about 1/2 of a sandwich is amazing and peanut butter is great at sticking!) I recommend that you have easy things to reach for. Stuff that is already made. Those little chocolate of vanilla pudding cups are about the right size for a carb snack. You are not eating big meals. You are eating small amounts often. Also, red-rasberry leaf tea and fennel tea help too.

I couldn't stand the ginger stuff. I used these things called "Preggy Pop Drops" You can buy them at stores like Motherhood Maternity, I think Walgreens might have them, or you can buy them online, here is a link http://www.mommybound.com/morning-sickness/preggie-pops-drops.aspx
They also have them in sucker form too.

Try putting saltine crackers by your bed. When you wake up, before you do anything else, even raise your head - reach over and get a couple of crackers and eat them. Yep - right in bed. Cracker crumbs in the bed do not matter - desperate means for desperate times. Keep them handy to munch on whenever that nausea starts to rear its ugly head. As a 14-year labor and delivery nurse, that is the only advice that I can give you that sometimes work. Just remember that morning sickness means healthy placenta!!!

YUCK! I am just getting through all my morning sickness.... I too LOVED peppermint anything, but after having my feet "Zoned" which was a Cure All sent straight from Heaven... the lady and my OB told me to STAY AWAY from peppermint... I had been using it regularly and it was helping me sooooo much! They told me that it contracts the uterus and is used in as a labor inducer.... needless to say... my placenta ended up tearing and I was put on bedrest for 3 months. I would stay away from anything with peppermint oil, just as a precaution and eat regularly. It will pass the further along you get. Good luck!!

Oh no - that's no fun! I got that sick feeling when I was pregnant, but didn't throw up. I just snacked on crackers and made sure I ate often. I think getting hungry makes it worse. I hope you feel better soon!

Thanks everyone. Looks like just eatting often is the best cure. This is my 3rd pregnancy and I was hoping for less sickness. I'm am a bit worrieds about the peppermint now. Both my other two were born early my daughter was born at 34 wks and my son was born at 26 wks. I am so going off peppermint if it is a labor inducer! Don't want this one to come any earlier! xxx

I'm sorry you've been so sick. I ended up on Diclectin with both my pregnancies and it helped quite a bit. If it isn;t available where you are try adding an extra B vitamin daily. Check with your doctor which one and the dosage would be best for you. I found drinking Gatorade through out the day helped and sucking on tums or hard candy's helped- especially when I had to go out and didn't want to puke in public!

I realized during my second pregnancy that it was just better to through up first thing in the morning before taking in any food or drink. Bile is a lot 'nicer' to through up than other stuff. Afterwards I would feel good enough to eat a little and that seemed to make the day a bit better.

I was horribly sick with my first when someone recommended sea-bands to me. They are next to the dramamine in your drug store. They apply pressure to a pressure point in your wrists. I went from throwing up and feeling nauseous all day, to just throwing up a couple of times. I was thrilled. Good Luck!

My 4th, and final, pregnancy was horrible. I ended up getting a zofran prescription. It totally saved me.
It's easy to say it will all be worth it in the end, but it's hard to see the end when your so sick!

I was nauseous all the time with my first....black licorice helped me...the anise for some reason was great...I also had a prescription, but only took it if I couldn't take the feeling sick of it all..which was terrible..I didn't throw up, just was icky feeling...my second, I got nauseous after every time I ate...but still no vomitting..lol..I used preggie pops and pop drops that time around, Babies R Us has them, most pharmacy websites, like Walgreens.com too...so worth it! Hope some of this helps!

I've had 3 babies and I've been sick the whole time with all 3. It's not fun. I never found anything that worked. I just got used to it. I've heard lately that vitamin B6 works great but I haven't tried it myself.
