Scrabble Tile Necklaces

I made a couple of these necklaces for Christmas gifts. They turn out so cute and they're pretty easy to make. They're just scrabble tiles. You cut out scrapbook paper or a photo or whatever you want, glue it to the tile, let it dry and cut around the edges. Then you file the edges so they are smooth (just a metal nail file works), then mod podge it, let it dry for a few minutes and cover it with diamond glaze. You have to let them dry for quite a while but when they're done, glue on a bail and slide it on a chain and there you have it.

Hot Chocolate Cones - Thrifty Gift:)

This is from Oprah.com. Cute and Yummy!

With 15 nieces and nephews, Kellie in Houston had to come up with a great gift that's both thrifty and sweet. "Who doesn't love hot chocolate?" Kellie says. To put a twist on this classic winter treat, Kellie created her own hot chocolate mixes. Using a plastic piping bag to hold the mix, Kellie says to start with a layer of cocoa, add marshmallows, and top with chocolate chips. Tie the top with a ribbon, and voilĂ ! "It looks like an ice cream cone," Kellie says. "It's so easy."

MYO Winter Windshield Wipes

MYO Winter Windshield Wipes: "MYO Winter Windshield Wipes

20 to 24 Squares of white Bounty-brand paper towels
1 cup Witch Hazel
1 teaspoon Glycerin

Separate & Fold each square like a washcloth. Combine Witch Hazel and Glycerin, mix well and pour over towelettes. Let stand for a few minutes to absorb all of the liquid. Stack in a sealable plastic container (glad ware is perfect) or zip-lock bag. Store under the seat of your car, use to clean your windshields or your hands whenever you need, won't dry out your hands"

Fire Proof Your Christmas Tree

Fire Proof Your Christmas Tree: "Fire Proof Your Christmas Tree

2 c. Karo Syrup
2 oz. Liquid Chlorine Bleach
2 pinches Epsom Salt
1/2 tsp. Borax
1 tsp. Chelated Iron

Make a fresh cut on the bottom of your Xmas tree with a saw. Try to cut level taking off at least one inch. Immediately after you cut the tree mix your fireproofing ingredients. Fill a two gallon bucket with hot water to within one inch of the top then add ingredients and mix well. Immediately stand the tree in this solution and let it sit for 24 hours.
Place your tree in a stand with a well where liquids can be poured (SAVE REMAINING SOLUTION).

After your tree is in the stand fill solution from the bucket into tree well using a cup or other smaller container.

Every day without exception , the well of the tree stand must be “TOPPED-UP” with the solution from the two gallon bucket.

Follow these simple directions & your tree will be fireproofed. (as Fireproof as possible!) It may save your home and family from those fire tragedies we always hear about around the holidays!

This is how it works: The Karo Syrup provides the sugar necessary to allow the base of the tree to take up water. Up to 1.5 gallons of water can be taken up by the tree over a two week period. Boron in the “Borax” allows the tree to move the water and sugar out to"

Salt Dough Christmas Decorations

These are way fun with the children!

What you will need:

1/2 cup Salt
1 cup Flour
1/2 cup Water

How to make it:

  1. Preheat over to 250 degrees F
  2. Mix together, salt, flour, and water until dough is formed
  3. Knead dough on floured surface until the mixture is elastic and smooth. If dough is too sticky sprinkle with flour, continue to do so until stickiness is gone, DO NOT ass too much flour, this will dry out the dough and will cause it to crack before you get a chance to bake it.
  4. Roll out the dough to about 1/4" thick with a rolling pin which has been dusted with flour.
  5. Use cookie cutters to cut out the shapes you want.
  6. Use a toothpick to make a hole towards the top of the shape for the string to hang the decoration.
  7. Place all shapes onto an ungreased cookie sheet and place into the preheated oven.
  8. Bake for 2 hours.
  9. Remove from over and cool completely.
  10. Paint the decorations, sprinkle with glitter ow whatever you would like.
  11. When paint is dry thread ribbon through the hole and hang on your tree.
LOVELY!

Christmas Present Idea

I made this for some christmas gifts and Birthday presents. I think they are lovely and to be honest it was quiet inexpensive to make. The Living Christ is Free at the Distribution Centre The cards to go along the outside were 15 for £3.45. I think in the states they are about $5.00. The frame was the most expensive part. It did take a lot of time to get it just perfect but the outcome is really nice.
