Valentines

Today my two youngest had a Valentines Day Party at our church Playgroup. It was a lot of fun. One of the many things we did was pass out Valentines to our little friends. I knew everyone would be passing out candy and wanted to try to do something a little original. So I sat at the computer and with the help of my Silhouette Cameo made these "cuties".

They were so fun to make and everyone really liked them as well as the idea of giving fruit rather than candy.

Valentines Day Board

Valentines Day is quickly approaching and as I took my Christmas decorations down I realized that I had no Valentines Day decorations. So I decided to invite some friends around and start crafting. Today I made this Valentines Board. All I did was buy a board at Lowes, cut it to the size I wanted, sanded it down and then painted it a deep red. Finally I cut the words I wanted out on my silhouette and put them in the board. Easy peasy! And so much fun. If you have questions left me know. I would say this cost me about $6 for everything.

Valentines Day Swag

So we have arrived in TX. We love it here. And I have now found a totally awesome crafting buddy! Yay for me ;)

The other day we ran to Joann's and brainstormed in the isles to try and come up with a really cute valentines day swag. Something not to red or pink but totally cute!

Here is what we did.

You need:

Burlap
Felt
2 pieces of card stock. We got the kind you can sand. Yeah totally awesome stuff!
1 piece of scrapbook paper

We cut the burlap into 8 squares 4" wide and 5 1/2" tall. Then we folded a 1" flap and sewed them over this is where you will pull your string through to hang it.

Next we cute a heart in the felt. We used a cookie cutter to gage the size. We used the outside of the cutter for a bigger heart made of felt, the inside of the cookie cuter for a heart made out of card and then just cut a smaller heart out of scrapbooking paper.

We then, using our sewing machines, sewed the hearts together and into the burlap. Way Cute!!!

Last I just strung them together and hung it on the mantle. So cute. Not to red or to pink but just enough to know that it is Valentines.

Valentines Day Coupons - Free Printables

7 Days of Valentines

This week I was talking to one of my sisters after she posted on Facebook that she was getting her 7 days of Valentines ready for next month. I was so intrigued as to what this was that I had to find out what exactly she was talking about. And now that I know I just have to share it with you all, because this is such an adorable idea. I am using a few of her gift ideas here and a few of my own. I hope that they will come in useful to you!

So you start this the week before Valentines. It is very similar to the 12 days of Christmas but with a love twist instead. I know how fun huh!! On the 1st day you give one thing, the 2nd two things, the 3rd.... you get the idea. So here are some of our fun ideas.

Day 1: Make or buy a BIG Kiss. In a card or on a note write this cute little poem:

Kisses Kisses Kisses,
Oh, what should I do?
All I want is just one Kiss,
From a special person like you.



Day Two:I thought I would make some heart cookies and put them on lollipop sticks (I will do a tutorial in the next week or so)



Day Three: I am going to get a small picture of each of my 3 children frame them, for his desk at work, and put in a card something like Thank you for three of the best reasons for living.


Day Four: Make a dinner where each course is one of his favorite foods. In his lunch or suit pocket send him a special invitation to a special candle light dinner. My sister suggested serving dinner in your favorite nighty to add a little bit of extra spark. Ahhhh saucy ;)


Day 5: I am going to make a Candy Bar Poster. Enough Said!


Day 6: Im going to give him half a dozen roses. I will deliver them to the reception at his office with a note that says:

Roses are red; daisies are white;
Valentine, you make every day a delight.



Day 7: Its Valentines Day!! DO SOMETHING VERY SPECIAL.

Another Idea I thought of and will probably substitue in or I might make it 14 days of Valentines If I find enough ideas is to make fortune cookies with cute little messages. I found a brilliant tutorial on how to make them on YouTube here.

I would love to hear your ideas. Because if any of you have better ones then mine I might steal those ideas!! Please Share!

Valentines Topiary Tree

Here is another Valentines Day craft and tutorial I have been working on recently.

Valentines Day Topiary

What you need:

Small Styrofoam Ball
Medium or Large Styrofoam Ball
Wood Dowel
Ribbon about 2 - 3 yards about 1 inch wide
Sequin Pins
Moss
small metal pail

Cut the ribbon into 2 inch strips. Pin one strip on the very top of the Large Styrofoam Ball.

Fold the sides of a piece of ribbob down so that it makes a triangle and pin this to the styrofoam ball. Starting at the top. Continue this step all the way around the styrofoam ball one row at a time. When you pin each row you will be covering the pins which are showing from the previous row.

At the bottom of the styrofoam ball you will pin a ribbon like you did at the top cut a slit in the ribbon before you pin it down. This is where the wooden dowel will go.



Next, I cut the wooden dowel the length I wanted it and painted it. I choose to paint it black. I then set it aside to dry.



I then took the little red pail and put some Hugs and Kisses on it (X's and O's)



Next I hot glued a small styrofoam ball inside the pail.



I then stuck the wooden dowel into the large styrofoam ball through the slit which I had cut previously.



I then stuck the other end of the dowel into the styrofoam ball which was glued into the small pail. I then put the moss on top of the small styrofoam ball.



Lastly I tied a bow around the dowel. And there you have it. Just like magic I was able to transform a styrofoam ball into something beautiful for my mantle over Valentines.

Valentine Candles

Here is a very simple craft that anyone can do! Plus it only took me about 15 minutes from start to finish!!

Here is what you need:

One Candle
Ribbon
Tissue Paper
Oh and a Hair Dryer

The first thing I did was print what I wanted
to say on Tissue Paper from the Computer.
As you can see I did it a few times until it was good enough!

Next I cut out a bunch of hearts from the Tissue Paper
of all different sizes

Then I measured a piece of ribbon to tie along the top of the candle

Next is the fun / important step. Place the saying you want against
your candle. Turn your hair drier on a high heat low blow and blow it towards the candle
where the saying is. This will slightly melt the candle and the wet wax
will then make the Tissue Paper stick to the candle. I did this samw step with
all the hearts and the ribbon. You dont have to do it to the ribbon but
it keeps it in place.

And VOILA...... A candle with whatever saying you want on it.

You could do this with any candle and any saying not just Valentines Day. So go ahead... Find your favorite quote and get making that special candle.

Valentine Craft - I Love U

I know it has been ages since I have posted a craft. I am finally starting to get in some sort of routine and finding time to do stuff. And what better time of year than Valentines Day. I love Valentines Day it is the only time of year that we can put up Red and Pink decorations and get away with it. Well without the hubby complaining :) I have done so many crafts this week but I am going to only share one with you today. You will have to check back later for some more Yummy Craft ideas!So here is what I made:



Pretty Huh!! I thought I would do a little tutorial on how I did it. So here we go.

First off what you will need:

Scrapbooking paper (1 sheet)
3 wood blocks I used a 2x4 and cut it into the size I wanted you can make them any size you want
Vinyle Letters or Sticker Letters
Mod Podge
Sand Paper
A paint brush
scissors


To start with I had to kiss my little helper for good Luck. I mean it is my first real craft since she was born and.... OK who am I kidding I just wanted to kiss her because she is so adorable!!


First I cut the scrapbooking paper to fit the wood. I then glued the paper to the wooden blocks





Once the glue was dried I sanded down all the edges so the paper didn't hang over any edges. It also makes the paper not look so straight lined but almost like it is part of the wood rather then made to just cover it.

Next I put the letters on each block. You can use whatever saying you want. I also painted some black hearts in the corners just for a bit of an added touch.



Next I put a layer of Mod Podge over the whole thing to one make sure the letters are sealed on really well and two to give it that shiny finish which I love.



Lastly I took some Raffia which I had lying around, I actually bought it to use at Christmas but never got around to crafting ;) and some pretty pink ribbon I had left over from Siena's birth announcements and made a bow.



Lastly I stacked the blocks and hot glued the bow onto the top. See how simple that was and it is lovely. Perfect for my mantle.

Valentines Swag

In an attempt to decorate my house for all the holidays this year I have had to make another Valentines Day craft. This time I did a Valentines Day Swag to hang on my mantle.

This was so simple!! All I did was get some scrapboking paper and cute it into hearts. I glued them into a design that I liked and then I laminated them so that I can use them again next year. Next I got some cute pink and red ribbon and tied each of the hearts together and then hung it from the mantle. I think it turned out really cute.

Now I just need to think of something to do on top of my mantle so that it is more Valentines like. My living room is done in black and duck egg blue so the blue candles on top of my mantle dont go at all and they are so coming down today and going to be replaced with red ones!!

Valentines Day Wreath

So I am starting to get in the mood for Valentine's Day and have been itching to get some Valentines Day crafts sorted out. So I thought I would end my week by doing this one first. A Valentines Day Wreath! I made the same sort of wreath for Halloween but this one turned out way nicer! It is so simple to make too.

What you will need:



1 yard / meter of Red, Pink and White
1 Wire Hanger
Wooden hearts or whatever else you want to decorate your wreath with


All you have to do is cut the Red Pink and White material into strips about 3 inches long and 1 inche wide. I didnt measure because you dont have to be precise.

Next bend your wire hanger into the shape of a circle. Again no perfection needed because when it is all covered up you wont really be able to tell if it is a perfect circle or not.



Next tie all your material pieces onto your hanger. Keep them really close together and get as many strips as you can tied on. The more the fuller your wreath is and the better it looks! I promise!

Next using a hot glue gun glue on the pieces you have with which to decorate your wreath.




That is it. You are now ready to hang your Valentines Day wreath on your door! Have fun doing this. It is easy, quick and really fun. To get the full effect and to see this wreath best click on the picture!
