CTR Towel

in my church at the age of 8, a child is baptised. baptism is a personal covenant between you and God. at that age, their primary (sunday school) class is called the CTR's. CTR means CHOOSE THE RIGHT and this is the emblem that associates with that saying... when i came across a CTR towel and poem on the Made with Love and Glue blog, i had to bookmark it in my favorites in hopes i'd get to make one soon! so when i found out that a friends son had made the important decision to be baptised, i knew i just had to make this for his special day! there's a poem that goes along with the towel that just fits it so well! here are my digiscrap versions of it...

if you're interested in making this, here's the tutorial she offers. it's great! she also has links for the CTR emblem and poem. happy appliquing!

Soft Bowling Ball and Pins

i found this tutorial on london mummys blog and knew i had to make them! they're called skittles. i just call them soft bowling ball and pins :) but anyways, they were fun to make! the bottoms are filled with rice and the rest is polyfill, so they stand nicely. the top and bottom have white cordorouy for better grip on the carpet. what a great christmas gift idea right!

Car Cozie

introducing the car cozie. it's a perfect solution for storing your little mans cars on the go. it has 6 pockets on one side, and a road on the other side.

when it's not in use, you fold it up, roll it up, and tie it up. thanks sharla w/ my little gems for the idea and especially for sharing how to make it here.

Snuggie, Snuglet, Slanket, whatever you want to call it!

who hasn't seen the infomercial for the snuggie? if you're not familiar with the concept, it's basically a blanket with sleeves. i was totally sold on getting one! but i wasn't a fan of the basic blue thin fleece it came it. so i started googling for a free pattern and found the SNUGLET.

my dh "model" didn't want to show his face, lol...
i was even able to find the fleece on sale at joanns for only $5/yd! so i paid $15 and spent 1 hr making it and it's TOTALLY worth it! i also added a pocket at the bottom for your feet. my hubby says he wants one with a pocket for the remote, lol. again here's the pattern.

Scrabble Tile Necklaces

I made a couple of these necklaces for Christmas gifts. They turn out so cute and they're pretty easy to make. They're just scrabble tiles. You cut out scrapbook paper or a photo or whatever you want, glue it to the tile, let it dry and cut around the edges. Then you file the edges so they are smooth (just a metal nail file works), then mod podge it, let it dry for a few minutes and cover it with diamond glaze. You have to let them dry for quite a while but when they're done, glue on a bail and slide it on a chain and there you have it.

Picture Memories

We recently had a brand spanking new baby and I am now obsessed with creating memories. Just before his baby blessing I saw some matting/mount for a frame for $1 and decided to buy it. The aim was to have everyone who came to the blessing leave a message for him, as a memento of the day, and so he would know how much he is loved - plus it will look great in his nursery.

I have seen it done for weddings, but it would also work for birthdays and holidays too. Anyway. This is how ours turned out:
